Gratitude Journal

Thursday, March 15, 2012

So, it's been a while since I posted! I guess I tend to have more time to post during the summer, but I'm going to TRY to update more often! I find I really enjoy doing creative and fun things, it's just having the time to do it that is hard to come upon.

Today I am THANKFUL for a supportive family and amazing doctors. I was diagnosed with Diabetes on December 6, 2011. I have not felt like myself since sometime in the year 2010 and when I was diagnosed with diabetes I was shocked, but now I am thankful. I truly believe had my body not decided to tell us something was wrong, I would still be feeling cruddy. I feel SO MUCH BETTER! I have days where I don't feel great, but I'm thankful my body is healing. Granted, it is tough to have diabetes and that will be a post in itself one day. I find it hard to find foods that I won't get tired of eating and I get very frustrated when I can't enjoy dessert with my family, but I'm still thankful that by learning to live with diabetes my family will have me around a lot longer!

This week I attended our Summer Leadership Retreat with the leadership team from my school. It was a very nice retreat where we did team building activities, made a few plans for next school year, reviewed data from this school year, and attended the last series of workshops from the Pastoral Institute out of Columbus; lead by Kelvin Reede. It was a great workshop titled, "Playing Nice in the Sandbox." During the workshop, he mentioned he keeps something called a Gratitude Journal. Basically, at the end of the day he lists at least 5 things he's grateful for that occurred that day.

So..........I will begin doing the same! Enjoy......this is mostly for me, but it may help someone down the line as well.

1. I am thankful that I receive support from a caring team at my workplace.
2. I am thankful for Ansleigh P. who watched Luke for me this morning while I worked.
3. I am thankful for my loving husband who always makes sure we have food in our bellies.
4. I am thankful Josh is home for the weekend!
5. I am thankful to have food growing in a garden that we can eat, can, and enjoy!
